I study the tender, carceral technologies of everyday life.
Working across feminist STS and media studies, I examine how ordinary infrastructures of care, mobility, and payment organize power—and how people live beyond their intended designs.

My dissertation follows three deceptively ordinary infrastructures to ask how care and control become entangled in everyday life.
Mutual aid, containment, and the racial politics of comfort
A study of the Local Open Access Fridge in Vancouver and the neighbourhood social-media discourse that gathered around it—asking how infrastructures of care become sites of surveillance, conflict, and belonging.
Mobility, carceral presence, and the everyday city
Research on the bicycle as both an ordinary technology of urban movement and a vehicle for policing, tracing how mobility, visibility, and authority are made to travel together.
Tokens, gates, payment systems, and tactical evasion
A media history of Toronto transit fares—from tokens and turnstiles to PRESTO and fintech—showing how payment systems classify passengers while riders continually exceed their designs.
I have taught and supported undergraduate courses in communication, race and media, and advanced academic writing at Simon Fraser University. My pedagogy pairs clear expectations and practical feedback with feminist approaches to participation, authority, and knowledge-making.
